Are you a science teacher who works with Dominican-American students? If so, you are eligible to participate in a Dominican Republic Project Science/Culture Workshop. These workshops involve learning about Dominican natural history, culture, and history at The City College as well as a one-week expense-paid excursion to the Dominican Republic to experience what you have learned about first-hand. Field excursions include travel to a variety of marine and terrestrial ecosystems, major geological sites, and cultural institutions in Santo Domingo . The workshop and field excursion emphasize experiences that will help you to connect with your students and enhance science teaching. The excursions will also help you learn about Dominican history, culture, and socioeconomics. A select group of 6-8 teachers will be chosen for the 2006 science-culture workshop. Check back for the application in January 2006.
